Wendy Merkley is a retired Information Technology executive after an extensive career in the Reinsurance and Insurance Industry leading and involved in many changes of technology. Wendy retired at the end of 2008 and joined her husband working in their small business marina and store in Rockport on the St. Lawrence River and immediately became involved in the small business and community group working with their local municipality. In 2010 Wendy ran and was elected as Councillor in Leeds and 1000 Islands and retired from Councillor life after one term. Wendy now runs her family business as her husband has retired. Wendy serves her community as a board member of the 1000 Island Community Development Corporation, as a Warden at her village Church, Secretary Treasurer for the Rockport Protestant Cemetery, Chairperson for the Rockport Development Group as well as for Friends of Rockport Customs. Her spare time sees her spending valued family time with her children and grand-children, often on the St. Lawrence River in her special wooden boat or on the seadoo.
