Rachelle has been involved with the tourism industry in some capacity for over 25 years. Her tourism background started with a summer student position with the Tourism Industry Association of the Yukon. It was at this time she fell in love with destination marketing. She attended the University of Alaska and received her degree in Tourism Marketing. Since graduating, Rachelle has been in involved in many different aspects of tourism including: Membership/Public Relations Manager – Kenai Peninsula Tourism Marketing Council; Public Relations/Sales and Marketing Manager – West Coast Washington Holiday Inn Express; Executive Director – Land O’ Lakes Tourist Association.
Her experience, education, and enthusiasm has benefitted the Municipality of Tweed over the last four years. Her dedication is apparent as the Municipality has more community involvement than ever before. The evidence in this is in the statistics of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and www.tweed.ca as well as receiving three awards. Her main focus right now is using the tools and resources available to better her community. This includes using social media channels for the promotion of the region. Rachelle realizes that smaller municipalities have little resources and she is looking forward to sharing tips and tricks on using social media channels with participants at this year’s Teeny Tiny Summit.
Rachelle is proud to call Tweed home. She is a mother of two teenage boys and has deep family roots in the municipality. Her favourite saying comes from a resident, “We are a small town, with a big heart!”
